  The AKC also lists rescue organizations for pugs.
• Pug Savers
  Steven and I spoke to Pug Savers before getting Shelby. I sensed such genuine caring for pugs from this organization. They were the best emisaries for the pug breed I have ever met.
• Pug Pros
  Located in Sacremento, CA. They need donations, and foster parents. Pugs can be adopted or surrendered.

Helpful Dog Books

  Jean Donaldson : Culture Clash
  A great book about what makes dogs tick, how to train them using positive reinforcement. The training is most relevant for labs, retrievers, and mixes, however much of understanding a dog's hard wiring is very relevant to pugs as well. Get Culture Clash at Amazon.com. (*****)

  Elaine Waldorf Gewirtz: Pugs for Dummies
  I wish I had found this book earlier. Good for those who are considering, or just got their puppy. A related book that also looks quite good is Dog Health & Nutrition for Dummies.

  Tara Kain: Dogfriendly.Com's California and Nevada Dog Travel Guide
  I haven't bought this yet, but the web site is a great resource. More pet friendly travel guides can be found on Amazon.com.

  Available online and in PDF form so that pet owners can print it out for reference.
• K9 Insight
  Located in Redwood City, CA. K9 Insights offers dog training, and day care using positive reinforcement techniques.
• East Bay SPCA
  This is where we took Shelby for her spay operation. Good information for Bay Area dog owners and dog ownership.
• ASPCA Poison and Toxicology Reports
  A great site for learning about what poisons dogs.
• Dogs on About.com
  A good resource for those considering a dog and for those who have dogs.
• Dog Spay Procedure
  Eek! Informative, but not for the faint of heart. I found this while researching what was involved with Shelby's spay surgery.

  All about dog food ingredients.

  Our favorite dog movie ever. Steven and I like to watch this movie every once in a while, to figure out what kind of dog person we are turning into. As of Dec 04, we're probably somewhere in between Cookie and Gerald, and Stephan and Scott, although Steven does have his Buck Laughlin (Fred Willard) moments. (*****)

  I just bought a issue. It's a great magazine that's not driven by breeder advertisements. (****)

  Koji Tomono: The Dog Postcard Booklet: Pug
  Irresistable photos pof pug puppies accompanied by completely useless text. Before we found Shelby, I would flip through this book a lot! The Dog products can be found on Amazon, and on their official site. (****)

• E&E Hallstrom: Couture Dog Clothes
  A way to dispense gobs of money on stuff dogs most likely don't appreciate the full value of. E&E makes couture dog clothes. As a sewer, I am very impressed. As a dog owner, I'm really not sure what to think.
