Eat your veggies

Shelby likes her veggies. Sometimes when I get to the core of a large leafy vegetable, the heart reminds me of Shelby. This is probably because the vegetable looks sized for her. And of course, I feed them to her just to see if she'll eat it. Thus far, there are very few veggies that Shelby won't eat, including this bok choy. Although curiously enough, her favorite seems to be broccoli.

That's unusual. My friend's pugs don't touch vegies - however, one of them does eat parsley of all things!

Shelby probably loves it when Winnie feeds her the veggies by hand with love! If pugs can digest veggies, good for them!
Shelby's little ears look so cute! Hope Shelby is over her tummy rash and that she can go back to playing at the Dog Park.
Have a great Fourth of July! Keep sharing the photos of Shelby...we love her so much!

Our pug will eat anything except lettuce. We were very surprised to find one thing that he didn't gobble up without even breathing. shelby is so cute!!

Just remember that there are certain veggies that puggies shouldn't eat; onions, garlic and macadamia nuts are toxic to our puppies!

Ourpug Otis has baby carrots every day. Once in a while a few peas and green beans.

Thanks for the note on onions and macadamia nuts. Here's a link to a helpful web page on ASPCA's site. It lists how to poison proof your home for your pet. Macadamia nuts are on the list as well as some other normally unassuming household items.

Our Puggy also gets baby carrots everyday... our vet says they're good for her digestive system, and help with her anal glads getting clogged up! Anything that can help with anal gland issues is a good thing in my book!!!

A little late in commenting..I had no idea about the onions and garlic being toxic! Theres a chance I might have let Alfred eat somthing of mine over the years that had that in it. Alfred does not like lettuce. He once stole a taco from Taco Bell that I had sitting (still in the wrapper) on the coffee table, took it behind the sofa, scraped out the lettuce and ate the taco. Our only evidence was lettuce and a wrapper behind the sofa...

Grapes are also not good for puggies. I found that out the hard way when my Oliver ate the grapes off the vine out back. He got a terrible pancreatitis that nearly killed him. Do check out http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=apcc_poisonsafe
to keep informed.

Canned Pumpkin is also great for the anal glands issue. I give Puggie a tablespoon a day and she no longer scoots around on the floor and the smell is not strong.
