Soft mouth

When Shelby was a puppy, she was terribly mouthy. I was a little scared of her teeth back then, but I had to play with her so that she would develop a soft mouth. As you can see from the video, she has developed a very gentle mouth.

Thank goodness.

I have your page bookmarked, I just got my first Pug her name is Fortune Cookie, she is my Baby I love her so much! I am concerned about the puppy bitting "Owwwww"she hurts me so much! How did you teach Shelby to have a soft mouth?
I asked my vet and she told me to shake a can full of beans "Yeah Right" she thought it was time for dinner..She told me to put vinegar on my feet and arms "yeah Right" Fortune loved it.. She was born 04/29/2005and I got her at 4 weeks and since then all she wants to do is puppy bite me now that she is older it is causing punture wounds! I need help! Please tell me how to cause a soft mouth :)

Oh ouch! We tried a variety of things. When Shelby would bite us too hard we would:
1. pull our hand away and yelp, and then stop playing with her. She hates that.
2. we shove a toy in her mouth so that she bites that instead. This showed her what she should be biting.
3. we shoved her own paw in her mouth. This gets her to judge how much force hurts.

Steven used a different technique where he would just let Shelby bit him and would ask her to "be nice." Eventually, she would start licking. I'm not sure how this last technique worked, but I guess some combination of these techniques finally got her to develop a soft mouth.
