When she was a puppy

Back when Shelby was a younger unwise dog, she would get herself into trouble. Steven had a pretty sharp eye for her shenanigans. He thought he could relax when he put her in her exercise pen. But in a few moments of quiet, Shelby thought it was a good idea to chew the doorway. You can see the little chew marks on the right.

Steven must not have yelled loud enough because he caught her chewing the other side of the doorway a bit later. He was so mad at the time.

Lately he's been sprucing up the house, and fixing a lot of little things that we've let go. He's going to repair the doorway, but we're both a little sad to do it because it reminds us of Shelby's puppy days.

awww memories! when moxie was really little [she's 7 months now] she just - luckily for us - never showed any interest in chewing anything but her toys & her crate [which is made of wire so we didn't really mind] but in the past couple months she has chewed a spot on the molding around the floor and the edge of my boyfriend's dresser. but she never even goes near those spots when anyone is around, so we can never catch her to tell her know!

she's too smart! pugs. i would gladly trade my molding & dresser for a better behaved pug though!

such a cute picture!

Zooey doesn't chew furniture at all for some reason, but i suppose she could still start doing at it some point- she's still only 4 months old, after all.

Shelby was 3-4 months old when she discovered that wood was tasty. Hopefully you never get to "enjoy
that particular part of puppyhood. :)

Hi Winnie--I trust you give Shelby lots of toys and distractions to avoid her chewing wood--I am worried about any lead-based paints covering any wood surfaces Shelby may chew or taste when you and Steven are not around to supervise her. We love Shelby for her sweet and naughty expressions. Thank you for our daily view
of a pug's life.

my pug leo, who is almost 2, loves to chew on wood too. Especially the corner of the first step. he gets all kinds of bones, greenies, and other treats and toys but occasionally he cannot avoid the temptation of that step.

My pugs chewed on wood and light cords when they were puppies. I found that one application of Tabasco on each chewed spot soon led to a pup puppy deciding that toys were a better choice!

My puppies never chewed furniture, but they did pull my stuffed animals around the house. I've never mended the holes, because they remind of my babies. (And yes, my name is really Shelby.)

It will be a said day at my house when the kitchen chairs are replaced. I may just have to keep a bottom rung of wood.

My little pug, Chia, just chews on everything. We should have called her ChewBacca. Shoes, paper, wood, computer cords, and etc. Thankfully, there is a tree stump outside that she can chew on. The worst thing I hate is when I wear pants with baggy legs and stripes on the side (like work out pants). She thinks she needs to latch on and hang for dear life.

When DaiseyMay was a puppy, she shredded two spots on our carpet!!! She clawed at it till it just unraveled!! I could have just screamed!! It was brand new carpet too!! I had to have it fixed! And it cost quite a bit too!! UUURRRRRGGG!!!
