There's just something about bones and dogs that goes great together. Steven and I love saving beef bones for her because we know that she adores them, and we get about an hours worth of well behaved pug.

Hi Winnie! Just wondering if Shelby lets you "brush her teeth" with a special pug toothbrush or do you rely solely on natural
bones and other teeth cleaning methods?
I wonder if all dogs need to have their teeth brushed by humans?

I used to brush her teeth, but found that the bones were pretty efficient and easier on us. Shelby doesn't care much for the tooth brushing.

We'll probably have to have her teeth professionally cleaned in the next few months.

I gave Eagle one of those bones about a month ago out in the backyard. I didn't see it after that first day. Lo and behold, just the other day, he came trotting up to me with that same bone in his mouth. Of course I abuptly threw it away, but he loves his bones! They become quite possessive of them, don't they!?

Sometimes the only way I can get time to myself is when I give Toby a bone or pig's ear to munch on. Otherwise I can't get anything done, because he wants to be on my lap. I don't know why I spent money on a laptop - it's never actually on my lap unless there's a pug on top of it!

My husband's family owns a meat processing plant. Once in a while we will get fresh bones for the dogs. They devour them quietly for about an hour before the fighting starts! DaiseyMay finishes what she wants on hers and then goes and takes Chloey's bone, and growls the meanest growl she can muster every time Chloey tries to take her bone back! Sometimes she even confiskates both bones and won't let Chloey have one at all!!

hello winnie,

I have given small chicken or pork bones (usually I wash the bones beforehand) to Donut and found that he really likes grinding his teeth in them. He devours the bones after few minutes or so. At the same time, I am quite worried if some bones might get stuck in his throat ? Has this happened to anyone before ? should I stop giving bone treats ?

I've heard that bones that splinter aren't safe. This is a beef rib bone, and we haven't an issue with splintering.
