Playing with Shelby
Shelby loves to play. Especially if she hasn't been out for a walk. If she's feeling playful, and you are ignoring her, she will bump a toy into your knee.
For some reason, she's not a fan of rubber toys, but loves stuffed toys. If you're at home, she'll play fetch, but for some reason, we can't get her to fetch out in the wild. She also loves to play tug. When in doubt, move the toy like a squirrel. It drives her nuts.

Isn't it funny Kricket does the same thing if she can't get you to play she "sticks" the toy on the back of your leg and if you're sitting on the floor to play with her, she "sticks" it to your back. Kricket only likes soft toys too, but our boy Teddy likes a strange looking rubber toy we call "green man"(cause he is the most pukey color of green) but Teddy will play retrieve all over the yard with it!!

I have a dog (non pug) who chases, of all things, collars. She had an older dog (now deceased) living with us when she was a puppy, and she used to bite down on his collar and let him drag her around. When she outgrew her puppy collar, she started having us play fetch with it. Now we buy collars as toys...

Mushu doesn't like hard or rubber toys, either. Plushies are the only things he'll play with. I can't even get him to chase balls unless they're plush balls. I wonder if it's a pug trait.

winnie, that is so weird, my mouth literally fell open as i read this! moxie doesn't like rubber toys either, my sister got her one of those rubber newspapers for christmas this year and she has never gone near it. she's not afraid of it, but she just could care less, so everything is plush.
anyways, when we're inside she will bring the toy back to you over and over and over again, but when we're outside she either just looks at you like she has no idea how to play fetch at all, or she tries to make you chase her to get it [impossible, for the super speed of pugs!] anyways that was just too funny reading this, yet another thing i thought would be unique to moxie but i guess she's not alone!

My puggies don't like rubber toys either! They have plush toys and love them! The only rubber toy I have gotten my girls to pick up is the CUZ toys... even then they barely play with them. I think the rubber toys just taste too bad!

my pug ari used to only like soft toys until she started paying with my friends mastiff. He loved his kong like bone and ari soon was playing with it. When the mastiff moved away the toy was passed down to ari. Its one of only non soft toys shell play with!
