Carrier training

My office is dog friendly, however the parking situation is not good. It costs 20 bucks to park. Ouch! So I bought a little dog carrier off of eBay hoping that I could bring Shelby on public transporation.

Except Shelby HATES being carried. I've been trying to break her in slowly.

80 biscuits later, she's pretty comfy sitting in the carrier.

When she starts calming down while the carrier is rolling, I'll try bringing her. Hopefully she doesn't cry the whole time.

Winnie, sounds like a great plan...except she may be too heavy for you to carry after 80 biscuits! Seriously, though, your blog is great!

I can't wait to see more vids of Shelby n her office buddy running n playing. I'm glad you have the enclosed tow carrier. I wish I could help out with some great advice about how to make Shelby a great traveler but all I have is- whatever works. I've seen lottsa dog strollers but Shelby might be safer in a closed carrier depending on the length of the commute. Just in case you dose off like I do sometimes.

KONG!

We had to recrate Frank after 3 years of no crate and he cried miserably. A friend recommended buying a Kong and putting a little peanut butter in it.

Works great!

He's so busy he forgets to cry.

easy does it I'm sure she'll get used to it because I'm sure she'd much rather deal with a ride in the carrier than have to spend the entire day without you

Ditto on the kong or some other form of treat. My pugs like pig ears of pork rolls. :-)

Hey...your office is "dog friendley"??! Does that mean you can bring your dog into your office all day? Man...that would be SO cool....Oh, and the KONG rocks! I just peanut butter in mine to keep Napoleon busy for hours...
