Uh oh, new gate

We've been using an old baby gate to keep Shelby from wreaking havoc in the house while we're out. (Yes, she still does that.) But I hate it. I'm just about 2 inches too short to clear the gate on my own, and I'd been eyeing some nice gates with doors built in. A friend of ours gave us one, and Steven installed it today.

There's only one catch...the door closes automatically. Hmmm. How is Shelby to get in and out to use ther litter box, and drink water?

New baby gate

Luckily Steven is very resourceful. He got a tiny bungee cord from the garage, and voila! The gate stays open until we say otherwise.

I've been using the exact same gate with small bungee cord for my 4 dogs for the last 6 months to keep them from roaming the house at night and during the day while we are gone and it works extremely well! Good Luck.

I'm lucky I guess....we are never away from the house for more than a few hours at a time and I'm still a CRATE fan....ours are big enought for the pups to have their bed and a dish of water. Each has their own crate for peace and quiet and they are always happy to go into their crates when they hear "I have to go out now..go to bed and get a treat" No messes or nasty surprises when we get home and happy greetings for all....

Your new white gate for Shelby looks great!
I thought that you had placed the litter box and her drinking water upstairs in
one of the bathrooms. Does Shelby also
have a drinking bowl and litter box area in the kichen area as well? I figured you keep Shelby well stocked upstairs or downstairs. Shelby, behave please!

I hate our babygates, we use them to keep Gus out of the catbox and out of the dirty laundry. I usually end up hitting my feet on the doorjams or the top of the gate.
I like your new one, it looks so much easier to use then mine!!
