Bald spot

In Shelby's earlier years, I noticed that she was rubbing the fur off her underbelly when she crawled around on the floor. It was terribly cute to watch, and there's certainly nothing wrong with a smooth underbelly, so we never corrected her. In fact, we tried to "capture" the behavior by reinforcing it with doggie biscuits.

Well if you'll notice the back of Vin's head...
Bald spot

It seems they have this in common. Vin, like a lot of babies, likes to roll his head around as he starts to fall asleep. Despite being born with a full head of hair, he's managed to rub off most of it around the widest part of his head.

Sigh.

I'm not going to give Vin a biscuit for this.

Most babies go from mega hair (which for some reason we seem terriblely proud of) to OH NO no hair...they do shed "baby hair" for more grown up hair and yup sometimes they can rub it out the way you describe and even become very fascinated with pulling it out.. oh the strange ways of kids is all stretched out before you...they leave you constantly asking "why did you do that?!"....Luv Ya...

Good morning Winnie, Vin and Shelby!
Winnie, you made me laugh with your remark that you weren't going to give Baby Vin a biscuit for rubbing off his baby hair...
your son and Shelby are adorable together.
I certainly hope that Vin will have new hair coming in at some point and that he will continue to thrive with your love and care. I revisited Shelby's first puppy bath photos and that gave me a nostalgic smile also. Hang in there-you are a fantastic first-time Mommy!!!

You just wait, Vin will get into the biscuits or dog food bowl soon enough! They all do it! When he starts crawling, you'll turn your head for a second and he'll have his chubby little cheeks packed full of kibble!

It's probably cause they are supposed to sleep only on their backs these days. At least it's only his hair. I've seen babies wearing helmet type contraptions because their heads have flattened out from the practice. Old people who don't get turned off their backs have worn spots too. Funny how stuff changes. Used to be you were supposed to keep them off their backs to prevent strangling on spit up.
Looks like Vin and Shelby are already pretty tight.

Shelby and Vin hang out . That's cool.
I like that lean to the side Vin has too .
Shelby looks so entertained. I guess she know now that Vin is a keeper.

Kaitlyn has rubbed a little bald spot on her head too - right in the center. Still thick everywhere else though. And people said it would all fall out!

I am noticing on Mushu that he has a little less hair than before on his armpit areas. He also has a "swirl" hairline on his chest and two lines on his butt area. Lol. He does not really crawl around on the floor too much.

Shelby and Vin are really cute together. Best buds for life! =)

as a nurse, i can tell you it's perfectly normal for vin to lose his newborn hair. have no fear, it will grow back with a vengeance. they are soooo adorable together, love seeing your extended family. xxoo
