Back from the flu!

Sorry for the radio silence. I was hit with the flu early this week and it had really screwed with well...everything. I have no idea if the flu shot I got early in the season worked at all. I still got the flu. Other the other hand, I'm mostly better in 4 days. Vin got a flu vaccine this year too, and I'm trying hard not to give this to him especially since the vaccine didn't seem all that effective.

I'm feeling a little better now, so let's start with

An Inauguration update
We had front row seats...
inaguration
...to our TV. Here's Shelby ignoring our state senator. Vin is in his Sunday best, and Steven is wearing his Obama sweatshirt, though you can't tell from this angle. I worked from home that morning so we could watch it together.

Next up, Chinese New Year!
Shelby's a seasoned pro at this holiday and just barely fits her little dress. This was Vin's first Chinese New Year! Doesn't he look confused next to grandpa? What do you think of the little jacket I made him?

Gung Hei Fat Choy
Shelby got a fine bone, and didn't even notice when the power went out that night. Luckily, my mom was just moments away from finishing the dinner preparations before we lost power.

Red Envelopes were handed out by candle light, (which explains the heavy flash in this photo).
Gung Hei Fat Choy
Shelby don't eat that envelope!

A good time was had by all.

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year! Love the jacket you made for your son, Vin. Shelby needs a new
Chinese dress--she is getting full figured...hope you will be free and clear of the nasty flu soon. Sometimes, the
flu shots given and the type of flu you catch are not the same virus. Welcome back, we missed you, Winnie.

Happy New Year you guys!I love Vin's beautiful jacket. I kept waiting to see what you would make for him. Maybe Shelby's dress could be let out here and there?
In my house at least, Inauguration Day was bigger than Thanksgiving and Christmas. What a wonderful rush!

Happy New Year to you and your sweet little family. I love the jacket. Can't see Shelbys dress very well. Has she put on a pound or two?

It's too bad our new First Family cannot get a pug like Shelby! Sorry to hear about the flu...I've always been a little skeptical of flu shots myself. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you and all! The year of the OX? I've always been fascinated with Chinese astrology, I love reading about it! I was born in the year of the Tiger!
Shelby and Vin look wonderful in their finery! What was that in front of Vin? A ball? What did vin get in his envelope?

Posted by: Lisa | Jan 31, 2009 5:16:44 PM

thanks everyone!

Lisa, that's not a ball. It's actually a fruit. A Pomelo to be exact. It's kind of like a gigantic grapefruit, but it's sweet.

and Vin got money in his red envelopes!

Dear Winnie, your son, Vin, has the best of both worlds and the best parents in the whole world. We know you are busier than ever, but please keep posting your adventures and triumps with son, pup, and
family! Thanks, Jade

This blog is moving from author/writer-centred to reader centred. Must be stressful Winnie...

I think vitamins and antioxidants work good against the flu... well at least for me. Anyone else agrees??

Thank you for your continued posting on this website; I have been following Shelby's adventures for some time now and really enjoy seeing her pictures. My Polly, our 8 year old fawn, just passed away two days ago and we miss her very much. She was a smaller version of your Shelby, and as pugs seems to all share a few common character traits, I will continue to follow your blog to keep our memories of Polly alive through Shelby. Thank you for posting new aventures even with your new baby and busy schedule.

diana, deepest sympathies on the passing of your beloved polly.......there is no comfort for that kind of grief, i know. go to a rescue organization and get another pug; i have 4 and they all came from shelters, some adult, some babies, and they are wonderful dogs.

winnie, happy new yearot you and your beautiful family....keeping posting, i love it!!!!!

Silly how addicted I am to your blog. Every day when I come home from work you are the first thing I do- my family calls it my "transition time". After checking your blog I am ready to be wife and mother again and not district manager blah blah blah
I hope all is well with you and the family. Kiss the kids for me.
