Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! We're back.

Let's start with an update on Christmas 2008.

I took the week off to relax and to prep for Christmas. I was making rice crispy bears for our extended family but boy and pug had other ideas. This is the first time I've ever made rice crispy treats and it turns out Shelby goes NUTS for them. I couldn't get her out of the kitchen. The boy is rarely far behind the pug and kept crawling his way into the kitchen too.

So the holiday started with me kicking these two munchkins out of the kitchen.

Don't give me that look. You know what you did.

But Christmas morning was great! Vin is wearing the pajamas I made him. He's not very experienced at opening presents, but Shelby is an expert and helps him out. gifts
And before everyone gets up in arms about it, No I did not get the boy butt wipes for his first Christmas. I was just using the box. I'll have you know it was a lovely bead maze that he seems to enjoy.

Shelby then helped me open a present. Thanks Shelby. :)

more gifts

As for Shelby, she got a little stuffed tiger that she has already gutted, a bag of organic treats, and a rope toy...

and of course...

Mushu loves to gut his stuffed toys. He just rips them open within the first week and stuffing is everywhere! But we buy him stuffed chewies because we are afraid he will chew out something he shouldn't, lol.

This year has been my first year to really follow blogs (mostly pug blogs!) and I have found the explosion :-) of human babies a wonderful addition to the mix. It is so good to see children starting from day one in a family with loved puppies and kittens in the house.

Lucky the pug got his bone too. He was so exhausted from the excitement and chewing, he slept like a log for a change. Lucky's daddy (my son) is expecting a baby (human) boy in May, so we watch your blog closely to see what to expect with the new kid on the block's arrival.

I have pics of my pugs from Christmas on my blog too. My pug Bailey's favorite toy, a stuffed monkey is back from the dead- and she recognized her beloved monkey instantly and wanted to chew him again.

Thank you Amazon.com!

My pugs definetly wanted to "help" unwrap presents!

Love the picture of the baby and pug behind the gate! hilarious!

Hi Winnie,

"...she got a little stuffed tiger that she has already gutted..."

It's planned obsolescence, on the part of pet-toy makers! They could make gut-proof toys, but then you wouldn't have to replace them every week!

I digress--but there is a Native-American creation myth (I don't know which tribe) I'd like to share.

After creating all of the animals, the Great Spirit made the first man and woman. Suddenly there was a massive earthquake, and a chasm appeared. It happened that the first man and woman were on one side of the opening chasm, and the animals were on the other side. But just before the chasm got too wide, the dog leapt across, to forever be with the man and woman.
