This week Vin turned 1! Good job everyone! We all survived our first year together, and we even had fun along the way. Here's Vin with his first cuppy cake It took me half a day to make due to general baking incompetence, but I think the final result tasted pretty good. Steven doesn't care for banana flavor cake, and by the looks of it, Vin doesn't seem to either, but he did eat some cake. Shelby LOVED it. (Recognize the party hat? It's Shelby's. :)
That's a big present. How will you ever open it?
(In Bob Barker Voice) It's a new car!
But wait there's more.
A new wardrobe!
Your very own drum!
Happy birthday little guy.

wait, you cook all manner of treats for Pug, but when it comes to the Boy you have "baking incompetence?"

Happy Birthday Vin!! What cool gifts you got...well the car and the drum anyway.
We may share the same baking incompetence gene, Winnie. I'm almost sixty and still can't perform. Not that I try very often. Ovens are more useful for drying clay.
You more than make up for any baking dysfunction with all the beautiful outfits and costumes that you sew.

Happy Birthday Vincent!! And now the boy has WHEELS!! No stopping him now, Mommy! My Grandmother always said that the only difference between the men and the boys are the size and price of their toys! She was a wise woman! The drum you may regret, but there is always the "outside with Dad" option! Great pictures, he's a beautiful boy. time to start trying for another one for him to play with!

Happy Birthday Vin!! Cool gifts too. Winnie, how brave you are giving Vin a drum set. My hat is off to you.

Haha! You're all too kind.
RE: baking incompetence. I overnuked the butter and had to sit around and wait for it to firm back up. That too hours!
I can't take credit for the drum. Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle bought him that, but seeing as how he's taken a liking to banging on Steven's drum set, this little drum should actually make the house quieter.

Dear Winnie, I want to thank you for writing this wonderful journey of Shelby and now, your son, Vin. I have learned so much about pet ownership from your logs.
How to deal with "firsts" and what to do when your pet is ill, needs surgery, has food issues, etc. and thanks for writing about Puppia Harnesses, dogs that pull on the leash, the first bath, the beautiful and adorable costumes you have created at
Halloween, and on and on. Thank you for sharing your world with the readers.
