Enjoying the great outdoors...somewhat.

Shelby and Vin have been enjoying the nice weather. Spring-like weather has finally arrived, and with that the opportunities to go outside and get nature stuck in your eye.

This morning, Steven noticed that Shelby's left eye was puffy. At first we thought maybe it was a food allergy, but when it didn't get better some hours later, Steven brought her to the vet.

doc! there's a foxtail in my eye!

The culprit, a foxtail.

126 bucks later, we have a more comfortable dog, and some medicine for the infection. Small price to pay for keeping her eye.

She looks like she's really good at the Vets... maybe she knew the Vet was going to help her. Glad her eye will be OK it must have hurt. Pugs & French Bulldogs eyes aren't very well protected so things like this can happen but they're so happy- go- lucky they seem to get over their mishaps right away.

I'm so glad that you are conscientious owners and took Shelby to the vet so quickly. Snub-nosed dogs are prone to eye injuries and must be watched carefully. Shelby is lucky to have you watching over her.

I'm so glad you posted a picture. I just read an article in Bark magazine about the dangers of foxtails, but they didn't include a picture. I never would've known what to look for. Glad Shelby's doing better.

Poor Shelby! Glad she has such great parents who watch her closely. My poor Bonnie has had this kind of injury a couple of times. Kiss Vin and Shelby.

Time to break out those doggles again. Glad Shelby is better and no permanent damage was done. That foxtail is a nasty looking sharp thingy....ouch.

Ah, the old foxtail. I remember those awful little things. Our first dog always got stuck in it in the backyard where my family
rented I was growing up in San Mateo.
My sister and I always had a difficult time trying to get out of the dog's mouth.
It would get stuck between the furry part of his mouth and once it got stuck between his bottom teeth. IT was awful for him.
But he was grateful to Us after it was done. Hugs and Kisses to Shelby.

I thought Shelby had pug insurance? At least you were thinking about it a couple of years ago...

Foxtails are horrible for all dogs and cats, then add the Pug eyes and it is really not good! So happy you took her in and your doc got it all good!
