Welcome Back Shelby Pug!

It's been a big month of changes at our house.

Lots of car repairs, schedule changes, and moving, but...

the biggest news being that Steven has returned to full time work after spending 3 years with Vincent, and the previous 4 years consulting from his home office. This means that Shelby has simply never known a life where she was left at home every weekday.

I'm incredibly grateful that we (and specifically Steven) has been able to provide that for Vin and Shelby. Vin is now going to preschool every morning, and staying with Grandma in the afternoons, but but what of Shelby? Look at this lonesome face.

Welcome back!

Bringing her to the office was no longer an option. My company had moved to a building that is not dog friendly. (boooo.) It is 15 minutes closer to the house, but lacks canine companionship opportunities. I thought about dog walkers, or doggie day care, but we just couldn't get things arranged in time, so instead, we sent Shelby to Grandma's Dog Resort for the week. I missed her, but it's better that I miss her, than have her stay at home for 10 hours at a time.

Out of habit, I kept checking the litter box throughout the week. And everytime I dropped food on the floor, I thought a quiet sigh that my persistantly hungry dog wasn't around to appreciate that it was raining food. On Wednesday, I accidentally dropped a cashew, so I put it in Shelby's food bowl, even thought I knew she wouldn't be home till Friday.

Not to say that Grandma's is not a great place for Shelby. She's treated like a queen there. And there are lots of kids to lick and chase around. She certainly looked happy (by pug standards) when we went to pick her up, though it could've been the roasted meat I had brought over for dinner. But I like to think that maybe she missed me too.

She came home, and instantly returned to her old routines as if nothing had happened.

And by the morning, the cashew was gone.

So happy to see you again Miss Shelby. Things just never stay the same, do they? Even when it seems that things are just right, change still comes along to shake everything up.
Don't worry dear Shelby. It will all work out.

Glad to hear from you, Winnie, and we were wondering why the quiet...seems that there are changes and it is good of you to worry about Shelby being left alone daily.
I think that Grandma is a big Heroine because she takes good care of your son and
Miss Shelby. Love to you and your family.

Welcome back Shelby! I am sure that she missed you even more than you missed her. Grandma is her #1 spoiler and your family is a close second. Her face is adorable...

That's great that Shelby can go to Grandmas and see his boy every afternoon too...things do always change and somehow the new way works out for everyone 'til it's time to rearrange everything again!!! Pretty soon my Griswald and Kya will be faced with being alone all day and I'm worried about what I can do for them to make things easier...Shelby is still the prettiest Pug ever!
