Exploring her new home

It must be hard for a puppy to adapt to a new home. After a four hour drive from Redding tothe SF Bay Area, Shelby started to explore her new home.

Tasting her people

Shelby demonstrated her affectionate nature by licking Steven's hand. We learned, as time passed, that Shelby is very very affectionate. We wash our hands a lot these days.

Seeking a lap

Shelby sought out a soft lap. Something she still does, but is a lot better at. These days, if the lap is not available, she somehow manages to create one by clumsily climbing the legs, until the person finally relents.

The first meal

The breeder sent us home with a packet of food, so that Shelby would not have to adapt to new food as well as a new place. She also told us when puppies arrive at a new home, they tend to do one of two things:
1. not eat because the change of environment is stressful
2. eat everything because they are not sure where their next meal is coming from
Shelby falls into the second camp.

A tiring day

Shelby had a long day, and she's a mere 8 weeks old, so she needs lots of rest.

Shelby rested on Steven's chest. And Steven rested his glasses on Shelby.

Shelby licked Steven earlier in the evening, and now Steven is returning the favor. Shelby ears are silky soft.

The breeder had told me that some of her pugs liked to sleep on people's shoulders. Shelby climbed Steven's chest, and served as a little pillow.
