Pug day at the park

Saturday was the weekly pug get-together at the park. Steven and I have never been to any dog events, so we decided to check it out. There was a wide variety of pugs. They varied from puppies to seniors. Some were show quality, some were rescue pugs. All the pugs had a really good time, including Shelby. When she was younger and smaller, she was tentative around other dogs, and would hide between people's legs when other dogs approached. In the past couple months, Shelby has grown to like playing with other dogs, and sometimes whines when I don't let her. So it was nice to finally let her play with other pugs. Shelby is the dog in the foreground with the red harness in the photo above.

There were two puppies there that were younger than Shelby, one of which looked a lot like Shelby when we first brought her home. (That's the same worried expression that Shelby had on her first dog park visit.)

I've been considering a pug as the next addition to my house, but was slightly concerned because all the websites I've read say not to take your pug outside for more than 15min. How long was Shelby at the park for and what do you think?

You have an adorable dog!!!

15 mins? I wonder where they get that number from. It's not the length of time so much as the heat. Short-nosed dogs have a harder time cooling themselves. So pug owners need to keep an eye on them if it's very hot. There are days where we just keep Shelby inside because there's a heat wave. There's other times when she can play outside all day.

I want to bring my pug to these Pug events too. Which park do you bring your dog for this Pug gathering? Do they have it every Saturday?

We go to Bray Commons Park in Dublin CA.

Pugs don't know their dogs, they think their little people in furry coats. I've had 4 pugs, they were the best part of my life. I will always be a pugaholic.

Has anyone ever heard of Marymoor Pug Patrol from Redmond, Wa.?

Aww, I love pugs they are so cute. My grandma has one too but now she is about 12 years old so I think that is kind of old for a dog. I remember when we first got her, they are even more adorable when they are puppies!
