Red Envelope

Late in the evening, Shelby was really tired, but mustered up enough energy to accept her red envelope. No money for this puppy. She got a crunchy treat instead.

Winnie and Shelby:
What's the significance of the red envelope? Is it a Chinese New Year tradition?

Posted by: J.D. | Feb 4, 2006 5:09:16 PM

The red envelope is a gift given to young people and children for new years. It contains lucky money, but Shelby's contained a treat. More information on chinese new years traditions can be found here.

Hi Shelby,

Donut wishes you a happy chinese new year, Gong Xi Fa Chai ! Your outfit looks great on you, Donut wants one too and has been pestering Mommy for it. Unfortunately, the shop that sells chinese outfit for CNY sold out and the last one left does not fit. Perhaps next year Donut will have better luck then !
