Pug Sunday in Dublin

Shelby seeks shade at the dog park

This was a shot taken on the Dublin Pug Sunday's Mother's Day meetup. It was hot, and after about 15 mins, I found Shelby taking shady refuge under the park bench. We finally went home when she started acting out of character. A pug named Jasper came in the park, and every minute or so, we would hear a yelp. (I think it was Jasper). That was when Shelby sat at my feet, facing out, and started to bark and howl...the same sound she makes if Steven and I leave her alone in the house. I thought maybe she thought she had lost me, even though I was right behind her. But even after she acknowledged my presence, her tail was down, and she was pacing in a worried kind of way. I took her home.

I wonder what that was all about?

dogs and other animals in general have this sixth sense goin on. i've read a story about elephants being uneasy and forcing their way on higher ground just minutes before the tsunami that happened here in asia. maybe shelby's and jasper's sixth sense are acting up. we can only ponder on these kinda stuff.

Who can tell what bothers them sometimes, things we can't sense, but the wise owner takes it seriously,as you did,and gets away from the area!!! They know a lot more than we do sometimes, don't they...Have a great long weekend(it is one for you guys in the States,I think??? Ours in Canada was last weekend...Enjoy...

Hi Winnie,
Seeing Shelby take refuge in the shade had me wondering if you've seen or tried the cooling accessories for pets. I have them for my little furkids, since the Texas heat is really harsh; they can still take their walks in the summer when they wear their coolers. http://www.bodycooler.com/pets.htm

Good thinking to go home because if something was bothering her that much then obviously something wasn't quite right there.
