Let's all celebrate Doppelganger week

Well it seems that it's Doppleganger week on Facebook. I just updated my profile to one of Marcie from Peanuts because...well, that's pretty much me as a kid AND as an adult.

I think Vin's Doppleganger is one of the kids on the Yobaby yogurt packaging. You can see him on the left on Yobaby's official site.

I've been thinking about who Shelby's doppleganger would be. I can't think of any immediate celebrities that look like her. This is considerably harder for a pug, as the only two famous ones I know are Frank from Men in Black and Milo from Milo and Otis.however, I do think Meimei over at http://mypugsblog.blogspot.com/ is quite a looker, and their faces look really similar.

Anyone else out there got a pug who looks like Shelby, or can think of a celeb that looks like her? Post a link to a picture in the comments! We'd love to hear from you.

It's like Mutual of Omaha in our back yard

Saturday morning started with a clutch of wild turkeys walking up to our windows.

While Vin managed to contain himself and watched the turkeys through the window while repeating the word "tutee," Shelby barked, whimpered, pawed at the window, and ran laps around the house.

In other news, Vin has a cold again. I'm hoping that it doesn't spread to the rest of the family. There's tons of hand washing and Purell in this house. Wish us luck.

Let's all celebrate by gnawing on a lamb leg

Happy New Year everyone. We took a holiday break from blogging to give the family time to recover from yet another round of colds. Viruses have not been kind to us this winter, especially me. I was sick 3 times this season. Personally, I blame reckless sick people boarding BART and coughing on me. I have no proof of this, but I suppose I should be grateful I haven't brought home bedbugs or lice. If colds and flu are the worst of it, I suppose I should be thankful (but really I'm not.)

This did give me a chance to buy and setup my new computer as the last one was 6 years old. I bought it around the same time we brought Shelby home! Unlike Shelby, the computer was pretty darn obsolete, and it would take a mere youtube video to freak it out.

So there you have it. My first post on the new computer. w00t!

As for New Years, you can probably guess that it was pretty low key. Steven had recovered by then but Vin and I were still sick. Shelby probably had the best New Years since she got this gigantic lamb bone to gnaw on. She was busy for hours! When we gave it to her, there was a decent amount of meat on it. It was totally clean by the time we went to bed. (Note to self. Shelby stinks of lamb for days after eating one of these things.)

Leg o Lamb

We watched the ball drop in NY at 9pm and promptly fell asleep until Shelby started barking at midnight when the local fireworks started exploding in the sky. Vin was so tired, he didn't even notice Shelby barking.

So here's to 2010. It'll probably be June before I start getting used to writing that year on my checks. In the meantime, here's hoping everyone health and happiness in the coming months. And remember, if you give your pug a lamb leg, stock up on the doggie shampoo.
